1. Agreement and eligibility
By downloading, accessing, purchasing, or using Stoic Intent, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you. Stoic Intent is not directed to children under 13.
2. What Stoic Intent provides
Stoic Intent is a personal reflection tool that offers short Stoic practices, morning intentions, evening reviews, reminders, history, and optional premium features.
Stoic Intent is educational and reflective. It is not medical or mental-health treatment, therapy, diagnosis, emergency assistance, or a substitute for professional advice. Do not rely on it for urgent health, safety, legal, financial, or other professional decisions.
You remain responsible for your choices, journal entries, exports, device, and reminders. Device compatibility, permissions, operating system updates, storage, app store rules, and connectivity may affect availability. We may improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue features while respecting rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer law.
3. Local data and device responsibility
The current version stores journal and practice data locally and does not provide an account or cloud backup. You are responsible for exporting information you want to keep before deleting the app, clearing its data, changing devices, or resetting your device.
Notification permission is optional. Disabling permission or changing device time settings may prevent reminders from appearing. Stoic Intent does not guarantee that a reminder will be delivered at an exact time.
4. Subscriptions, trials, and purchases
Stoic Intent may offer free and paid functionality. The paywall shown before purchase identifies the subscription period, price, included features, and any introductory trial available to your store account.
- Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled through your store account before its renewal deadline.
- Your store account may be charged shortly before the current period ends.
- If a trial is offered, eligibility and unused trial time are controlled by the store.
- Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds and billing disputes are handled under the rules of the store that processed the transaction.
Prices may vary by country, currency, taxes, and store. Price changes will be presented or notified as required by the applicable platform and law.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- circumvent security, interfere with the service, or probe vulnerabilities;
- reverse engineer, copy, resell, sublicense, or distribute the service except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- use the service for unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or abusive purposes; or
- violate Apple, Google, or another platform provider's applicable terms.
We may limit or end access where reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, third parties, or legal compliance.
6. Ownership and feedback
Stoic Intent, including its software, design, text, graphics, trademarks, and other content, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on supported devices for its intended purpose.
If you voluntarily provide feedback, you allow us to use it to improve Stoic Intent without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.
7. Third-party services
Stoic Intent relies on operating-system frameworks, app stores, analytics providers, subscription infrastructure, and website hosting. Their own terms and policies may apply. Relevant data handling is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stoic Intent is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement. We do not promise any specific philosophical, personal, emotional, habit, or productivity outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stoic Intent and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, opportunities, goodwill, or access arising from your use of the service. Our aggregate liability for a claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Stoic Intent during the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited in your jurisdiction.
9. Changes, termination, and governing terms
We may update these Terms when the service or law changes. Material updates will be posted with a new effective date and additional notice where required.
You may stop using Stoic Intent at any time. Subscription cancellation is handled separately through your app store. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, limitations, and dispute terms—will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Stoic Intent developer is established, without depriving you of mandatory protections available in your country of residence. Before filing a claim, please contact us and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve it informally.
